If the teacher's mindset & approach is the most critical aspect of a RITCH classroom, classroom management is a close second.
And the two really go hand-in-hand. When a teacher knows who he is and implements a classroom management practice that is authentic, consistent, and motivating, it opens the door for so much else. Collaborating doesn't equal chaos. A substitute steps in and nothing skips a beat. And, best of all, you can have more fun.
I'll share what works for me here, but know that classroom management techniques are not one size fits all. I learned through my own trial and error that you have to find a style that is authentic to your own unique personality. Once you find your own path, there are two things your classroom management has GOT to be: consistent and motivating for students.
